Don’t get me wrong, this added to the book and really gave a feel to how people spoke in Melbourne, but it just added that extra aghh to reading it. This was a quite draining to read due to the cockney language featuring in it. That doesn’t mean this book was bad or badly written, it just wasn’t a topic I was really interested in. Norman Heath or “Nostrils” is Charlie’s best friends. Squizzy Taylor also features in this book, as Charlie’s boss. Mr and Mrs Redmond are the Feehan’s neighbours and good friends. In his family features Jack Feehan, his baby brother and his mother, his father died from the Spanish flu. He continues his job against his mother’s wishes and discovers the negatives of working with a criminal.Ĭharlie Feehan’s is the main character is a 15 year old boy. Charlie’s job is to run errands for Squizzy Taylor and receives a nice amount of money in return. Throughout the book he catches the eye of Squizzy Taylor, a man known for his criminal activity. Charlie Feehan’s is very poor and is struggling to help provide for his mother and his baby brother Jack. This is a partial fiction novel due to featuring of a character named Squizzy Taylor, who was an actual living person in Melbourne in 1919. This is set in Richmond, Melbourne, Australia and set in the year of 1919. This book follows a young boy named Charlie Feehan’s, who has recently suffered the trauma of having his father passing away. So the more general information about the book:
